What to Include When Introducing Your Shopify Store to a Buyer

Write a concise Shopify seller introduction that explains fit, operating model and the next step without disclosing confidential business information.

Original learning diagram: Read the request, Explain the fit, Invite a reply

A first introduction should help the buyer decide whether to continue. Include the kind of Shopify business you operate, why it matches the request, one useful operating fact and a simple next step. Leave the full sales pitch and detailed financial pack for the subsequent conversation.

Read the request as a set of requirements

Highlight the category, acquisition budget and any stated preferences. Distinguish a firm exclusion from a preference: “no inventory” is different from “prefer light inventory.” Check the currency before comparing the request with your expectations. The Verified Funds amount describes reviewed purchasing capacity, not the buyer's offer.

Write one sentence explaining the fit to yourself before messaging. If you cannot do that without stretching the facts, choose a more relevant request. Sending a broad pitch to every buyer makes it harder to identify genuine interest.

Use four small building blocks

PartWhat to includeWhat to avoid
BusinessShopify category and operating modelA string of promotional adjectives
FitOne preference your business meetsClaiming to meet every possible criterion
Useful factFulfillment, repeat demand or documented workloadUnexplained revenue or profit claims
Next stepA question that invites a focused replyA demand for immediate commitment

BizAcquir's introduction form has a 500-character limit. That encourages an opening conversation; it is not the place for the whole memorandum.

Adapt an example to the facts

Example—operating store: I own an established Shopify accessories store with repeat customers and outsourced fulfillment. Your preference for a manageable weekly workload fits the operation. I can share the included assets and a private financial summary here. Would you like to review the outline?

Example—inactive store: I have a Shopify homewares business with genuine historical sales that is currently inactive. It includes the brand assets, domain and remaining owned stock. Your request mentions restart opportunities. May I explain the sales period and work needed to reopen?

The second example does not disguise inactivity or imply that past revenue continues. Replace every claim with something you can support. If the buyer wants an active profitable business only, do not present the inactive example as a match.

Send through the existing request

  1. Open the relevant Businesses Wanted request and select I Have a Matching Business.
  2. Sign in or create an account when prompted.
  3. Write the short introduction. Attaching one of your listings is a choice, not a prerequisite.
  4. Check the character count and read the message once more before sending.
  5. Continue the discussion in BizAcquir when the buyer replies.

An attached confidential listing still needs its NDA and seller-access process. Do not put its protected identity or financial details in the message as a workaround.

Prepare for the first useful reply

If the buyer asks about workload, answer with a typical week and the exceptions: replenishment, returns, customer support and campaign changes. If they ask about financial performance, state the dates, currency and definition before sharing figures. If they ask what is included, distinguish owned assets from services that require a new agreement.

Keep a short unanswered-questions list. If you need to check a supplier or app transfer, say you are confirming the arrangement rather than promising continuity. The transfer worksheet is a useful preparation aid.

Review before sending

  • The introduction refers to this buyer's actual request.
  • Active or inactive status is accurate.
  • Any stated performance can be supported for a defined period.
  • No customer information, passwords or private documents are included.
  • The next action is a conversation, not an implied agreement.
